Frequently Asked Questions Page3

Q: Do you focus on competition? Will I be pressured to fight?
A: You will never, ever be pressured to compete or fight in any context by anyone at 12 Rounds. In fact, you'll find that the majority of our most loyal members don't ever plan to step inside a ring. They're simply hooked on the tremendous fitness benefits that the training offers. The majority of the classes we offer are for non-fighters and focus on fitness. We can also offer other training options for members who are interested in learning the sport to compete as an amateur or professional fighter.

Q: Do you offer mitt work?
A: Mitt work is a highly specialized training tool, and we offer some paired mitt exercises in our Boxing Fundamentals class. One-on-one sessions with a trainer are also available in 15 minute sessions for special member price.

Q: How long until I can spar or fight?
A: At 12 Rounds, we never allow people to just walk in from the street and spar or fight. This might be acceptable at other gyms, but it violates our safety standards. Depending on your level of experience, it could take anywhere from 3 to 6 months before you are ready to spar. Ultimately, it will be at the discretion of Rey and the trainers, and they will determine whether or not you're ready to spar safely. That being said, if you join 12 Rounds with extensive experience as a boxer, and if you can demonstrate to the satisfaction of Rey and the trainers that you can spar with control, then you'll be able to start sparring within days or weeks of becoming a member.

Q: What is the ratio of men to women?
A: Approximately 60% women to 40% men.
