Are you originally from Austin? Yes, born and raised!
Do you play other sports? I’ve never really been into sports, when I was younger I was a dancer and a cheerleader. Boxing is the first sport I’ve ever gotten into and I am so glad I did!
What got you interested in boxing? My little brother took boxing lessons from Rey and loved it, then my sister-in-law started taking classes with Rey and she loved it too. After hearing about their great experiences, I knew it was time to give it a try!
Describe your first class at 12 Rounds: I had no idea what I was doing, but it was an intense workout, so much fun and Rey was very encouraging. I knew after that class I was hooked!
What is your favorite class at 12 Rounds and why? Reggaeton boxing! I love punching the bag with the beat of the music. It is so motivating and keeps me working harder!
What is your advice to someone who is just starting out with boxing training? Don’t get intimidated the first time you come to the gym. The work outs can be intense, but Rey can tailor the workouts for someone new or advanced. Just be open to the experience and get ready to sweat your booty off!
What is your favorite summertime Austin activity? Lake Austin, Barton Springs, live music and BBQ at the Salt Lick, margaritas at Matt’s El Rancho
Any shout outs? Rey- thank you for all you do for your members! I look forward to being a part of 12 Rounds for many years to come!
Thanks so much, Melanie and we’ll see you at the gym!
